Colloquia Topic:

Navigating the ‘Green Years’: Exploring the Cultural ‘Uniqueness’ of Adolescence in Japan

Aaron Miller (amiller333@yahoo.com), visited the Center during the 2010-11 academic year. He specializes in the study of sports, education and culture, specifically in the Japanese and American socio-cultural contexts. While at Stanford he undertook a comparative project regarding the idea of education (particularly the notion of character development) in the modern sports of Japan and the United States, which attempted to trace the diffusion and development of this idea back to Victorian Britain, as well as to understand its manifestations in Japanese and American societies today.
