Miller, Aaron L.

Aaron Miller (amiller333@yahoo.com), Assistant Professor at Kyoto University, Japan, will be residing in Cubberley 311 for the 2010-11 academic year. He specializes in the study of sports, education and culture, specifically in the Japanese and American socio-cultural contexts. While at Stanford he will undertake a comparative project regarding the idea of education (particularly the notion of character development) in the modern sports of Japan and the United States, attempting to trace the diffusion and development of this idea back to Victorian Britain, as well as to understand its manifestations in Japanese and American societies today.

(2015-2016) Aaron is currently Annual Lecturer, Department of Kinesiology, California State University East Bay (Hayward), where he is teaching classes on sports sociology, sports history, and sports in film.
