Wivian Weller (email@example.com) is Professor of Sociology of Education and Qualitative Research Methods at the Universidade de Brasilia, Brazil, where she teaches classes and conducts research related to generations and youth cultures, youth and school education, gender and education, academic experiences of women and students of families with low income, and comparative study about students in Brazilian and Chinese universities.
Professor Weller obtained a bachelor’s and a master’s degree of Science in Education (1996) and a doctorate in Sociology from the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany (2002).
She is a visiting scholar at the Stanford Center on Adolescence from September 2012 until August 2013, with a scholarship from the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel (CAPES).
While at Stanford she will analyse data resulting from a questionnaire which in 2012 was applied to a random sample of students in Brazilian and Chinese universities. She will also examine psychological, sociological and educational theories on youth and generations and their contribution for the empirical research on university students.
